Ethiopia Urban Health Extension Program (USAID/UHEP)
Ethiopia Urban Health Extension Program (USAID/UHEP) aims to support at scale, the implementation and monitoring of the Government of Ethiopia's UHEP (GoE/UHEP) and to improve access to and demand for health services. More specifically, the program aims to strengthen the capacity of UHE Professionals to identify vulnerable groups and most at-risk populations (MARPs) in their catchment areas and provide public health services to improve overall health outcomes including HIV prevention, care, and support services. To meet these expected results, the USAID/UHEP is implementing a strategic approach that will reach MARPs that is focusing on establishing and strengthening the bridge between MARPs and the GoE/UHEP, through engaging civil society organizations and community-based organizations working with these populations.
USAID/UHEP is a three-year project (2009-2012) funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by John Snow, Inc. (JSI).
